The Philippines is set to debut in WTA 125 in 2026.

The tourney, dubbed as Philippine Women's Open, is now part of the WTA 125, as listed on its website. It will be held from Jan. 26 to 31 in Manila.

The Philippine Sports Commission, the Philippine Tennis Association, and other key agencies recently held a coordination meeting for the tourney debut.

"The excitement is building as PSC Chairman Patrick Gregorio powered through a high-energy coordination meeting with major government agencies and the Philippine Tennis Association (PHILTA), setting the stage for the Women’s Tennis Association (WTA) tour’s first-ever stop in Manila this January 2026," the Philippine Sports Commission wrote on its announcement on Nov. 26.

32 players are set to compete in the singles draw, and 16 teams will compete in the doubles draw.

The event will feature a total prize pool of $115,000. It will be held at the same time as the Australian Open, which will be from Jan. 18 to Feb. 1.

WTA 125 is a series of tournaments that "offers both established WTA players and talented newcomers the ability to build their careers and progress up to the highest levels of the WTA Tour." It includes Cali Open, Guadalajara 125, Jingshan Tennis Open, and the Suzhou WTA 125.

Filipina tennis ace, world's no. 50 Alex Eala bagged her first WTA 125 title in Guadalajara last September.
