Agency files criminal complaint vs. ENHYPEN's Jay's stalker
ENHYPEN member Jay has been subjected to stalking and serious privacy violations, prompting his agency BELIFT LAB to file a criminal complaint against the individual allegedly responsible.
In a statement posted on Weverse on Nov. 3, the agency said the incident began in June, when the individual repeatedly contacted Jay’s personal phone number.
According to BELIFT LAB, the individual initially pretended to be an employee of an internet and television installation service center and mentioned Jay’s family while claiming to provide information about the service. The person also asked when they could call again and provided their own contact information in an apparent attempt to obtain more personal details.
Jay later checked the individual’s claims with his family and found that they were false. However, the agency said the individual continued contacting him despite his lack of response.
BELIFT LAB also alleged that the individual secretly recorded phone conversations with Jay and distributed them on multiple platforms, including KakaoTalk, Instagram, and X Spaces.
"Even after the individual’s actions became publicly known, they repeatedly made excuses, claiming that the calls were 'work-related' or that they had been 'hacked,' and attempted to evade responsibility by deleting their accounts," the agency said.
"We take this incident extremely seriously, as it constitutes not only an invasion of the artist’s privacy but also raises concerns about further harm resulting from the disclosure of personal information," it continued.
BELIFT LAB described the incident as a serious invasion of privacy that caused Jay "significant psychological distress and anxiety."
The agency confirmed that it had filed a criminal complaint against the individual and sent official requests to South Korea’s three major telecommunications providers for assistance in identifying the person responsible.
BELIFT LAB also urged fans to continue reporting stalking and the illegal disclosure of artists’ personal information through HYBE’s Artist Rights Protection page.
"We sincerely thank all fans who have supported our efforts to protect the artist. Reports submitted through our Artist Rights Protection page (protect.hybecorp.com) are continuously reviewed by the relevant departments, and we ask for your continued cooperation and active reporting," it said.
"BELIFT LAB would like to make it clear that we will take strong legal action, in accordance with our zero-tolerance policy, against stalking and the illegal disclosure of personal information that violate our artists’ privacy and threaten their personal safety. We will not extend any leniency or enter into settlements with those responsible. Thank you," it ended.
