Amazon MGM Studios is looking for a new James Bond
Who do you think will be the next James Bond?
Amazon MGM Studios announced that it is looking for the next actor who will play as the British Secret Service agent based on British novelist Ian Fleming's books.
“The search for the next James Bond is underway," the film production company said in a statement.
"While we don’t plan to comment on specific details during the casting process, we’re excited to share more news with 007 fans as soon as the time is right,” they continued.
Variety reported that acclaimed casting director Nina Gold has joined the production. She joins executive producers Denis Villeneuve and Tanya Lapointe, with Amy Pascal and David Heyman set to produce.
This news follows an update from Amazon MGM’s head of film, Courtenay Valenti, who addressed the 007 casting search at CinemaCon last month.
“We’re taking the time to do this with care and deep respect,” she said. She described the opportunity to helm the next chapter as a "lifelong dream," and that the responsibility is something that they "dont take lightly."
"What I can tell you is this: When you pair one of the most beloved franchises in history with a world-class film-making team, including the brilliant director Denis Villeneuve, extraordinary producers Amy Pascal and David Heyman, executive producer Tanya Lapointe and screenwriter Steven Knight, you’re setting the stage for something that’s truly worthy of the Bond legacy."
"That film is coming, and when the time is right, we’ll have much more to share," Valenti promised.
The incoming actor follows in the footsteps of Daniel Craig, whose starred in five 007 films: Casino Royale (2006), Quantum of Solace (2008), Skyfall (2012), Spectre (2015), and No Time to Die (2021).
Craig is the latest in a long line of icons to play Bond, preceded by Pierce Brosnan, Timothy Dalton, Roger Moore, George Lazenby, and Sean Connery.
