P150,000 aid to be given to families of Tacloban school shooting victims: Palace

The families of the victims of the school shooting in Tacloban will receive cash aid from the government.

"Each family of those who died will be given financial assistance of P150,000,” Palace Press Officer Claire Castro said in a statement on Tuesday, June 23.

Castro added that the Department of Social Welfare and Development and the Department of Health will also provide psychosocial services to the individuals affected by the incident.

The shooting incident occurred at San Jose National High School around 9 a.m. on June 22. It left three students dead and several others injured.

According to the Tacloban City Police Office, the injured victims received immediate assistance and were transported to medical facilities for treatment. Of the 20 injured, 15 remain hospitalized for firearm-related injuries, while five sustained non-firearm-related injuries.

The two minor suspects, alias Nash, 14, and alias Rod, 15, remain in police custody and are undergoing investigation with their parents present before being endorsed to the DSWD for further processing. Here's what the initial probe has shown so far.
