'Goblin' cast to reunite for the K-drama's 10th anniversary
Can you believe it’s been a decade since Goblin was first released? Well, Gong Yoo and Kim Go-eun are officially teaming up again to celebrate the 10th anniversary!
South Korean network tvN is bringing the show's lead stars back together for a special anniversary event, Soompi reported.
Joining them are Lee Dong-wook and Yoo In-na, who played Wang Yeo and Kim Sun, respectively, as they look back on the popular K-drama.
“Beyond just the time it aired, Guardian: The Lonely and Great God is an iconic project that continues to receive love even now. In celebration of the 10-year anniversary, we will reminisce about memories the viewers spent together with tvN, bringing nostalgic vibes by reuniting with a drama of a lifetime," said a source from tvN, as reported by Soompi.
"The smiles and emotions of that time as well as the unchanging chemistry of the actors even after 10 years and the echoes left behind by the project will greet viewers once more, so please look forward to it a lot,” the source continued.
Goblin, or Guardian: The Lonely and Great God, premiered in tvN in 2016. It is about an ancient military general turned immortal deity, waiting centuries for his bride to break his curse by drawing the invisible blade from his heart.
After its run, it gained massive success globally. In Korea alone, the hit series is among the top three cable dramas with the highest viewership ratings, with a record of 20.5%.
At the 53rd Baeksang Arts Awards, writer Kim Eun-sook won the Grand Prize in the television category for "Goblin," and Gong Yoo took home the Best Actor award.
