Want cheaper MUJI finds? These branches are letting you score home pieces as low as P50 until Oct. 8

We usually hunt for furniture at second-hand stores, ukay-ukay, and Japanese surplus shops—but did you know you can buy MUJI items in mint condition directly from their store?

If you're looking to level up your living space without breaking the bank, the Japanese retailer is bringing back its sustainable shopping event, the Mottainai Market, offering functional home items and furniture at marked-down prices.  

Mottainai is a Japanese philosophy term used to express a sense of regret at wasting the intrinsic value of a resource or object, often translated as “what a waste” or “don’t be wasteful.” With this concept in mind, the initiative gives a second life to items with slight imperfections rather than letting them go to waste.

​Shoppers can discover great deals on a wide selection of furniture and home essentials including baskets, boxes, shelves, beds, tables, and mattresses.

Lids and baskets for as low as P50 and P100, respectively, are available. Wooden beds are also up for grabs at just P1,500 to P6,000 (originally between P7,990 and P34,990). Meanwhile, stackable drawers and rollers with wheels are now just between P200 to P600.

There's a catch, though, some of these pieces may feature minor cosmetic blemishes or surface scratches that prevent them from being sold at full retail price. However, MUJI assured they remain completely sturdy, useful, and fully functional!

​The Mottainai Market runs from Sept. 25 to Oct. 8 at participating branches including MUJI Glorietta 3, MUJI SM North EDSA, MUJI SM Mall of Asia, and MUJI Uptown Mall.
