From Siri AI to perimenopause tracking: New features coming to iOS 27
iOS 27 is getting more AI features.
On June 9 (Philippine time), Apple kicked off its annual World Wide Developers Conference, unveiling its latest software upgrades coming to iPhones, iPads, and Macs.
In 2025, the tech giant introduced a design overhaul with Liquid Glass, and this year, the focus is on AI features, stability, and quality-of-life improvements.
To keep you up to date, here are the new features coming to iOS 27:
Siri AI
Siri is getting more features that will help it become a "more capable assistant," as it is powered by Apple Intelligence.
"Siri AI," the new version, is capable of understanding personal context by searching for information across messages, photos, emails, and more. Let's say you're planning a party and you have already asked Siri for a menu suggestion. In the middle of it, you mentioned that you want to include a recipe from your sister. Siri can comb through your conversation to search for the recipe and create your preferred menu.
The camera app also gets a Siri mode, so you can ask Siri about what you're seeing. You can simply take a photo of any dish, and Siri can show you relevant nutritional insights and more.
Everything lives in a dedicated Siri app, where you can revisit old conversations or start a new one. Your conversational history is also synced across apps, so you can start a query on your phone and later revisit it on your Mac.
On Mac, Siri is also integrated into Spotlight Search, so you can simply type in your questions and tasks for the virtual assistant there. In iOS 26, the tool only helps you locate files, launch apps, perform math, and search the web without opening a browser.
Furthermore, Siri will be more customizable, as you can change the pace and expressivity of its voice to make it more conversational.
Design improvements
With iOS 27, you can customize the look of Liquid Glass. There's a new slider in Settings that lets you adjust the transparency and opacity of your icons.
Apple also said that the design language has been improved to make it more readable.
Beefed-up performance
In its keynote, Apple said that iOS 27 brings platform stability improvements that make the iPhone faster. According to the company, app launches are 30% faster, newly captured photos load 70% faster, AirDrop transfers are 80% faster, and system animations are smoother.
Older devices like the iPhone 11 will get an advanced CPU scheduler, which "ensures the right work is executed at precisely the right time."
Perimenopause tracking
In iOS 27, the Health app's Cycle Tracking can monitor perimenopause and menopause. If your logged cycle patterns suggest that you may be experiencing menopause, the app will let you know by notifying you.
Child safety
Apple highlighted child safety features during WWDC 2026. The latest operating system gives parents more control thanks to a Setup Assistant, which lets them choose what apps are available to their children and what websites they can access.
Meanwhile, Apple is implementing communication safety for kids by blurring nudity or violence by default in Messages and FaceTime.
Additionally, features like Time Allowances and Schedules help parents manage screen time for their children.
Smarter Safari
Got many tabs open? In iOS 27, Safari is able to organize tabs by topics using Apple Intelligence. The web browser also gets a new feature called Notify Me, which automatically monitors a page on your behalf. This will come in handy when you're buying tickets or waiting for a product to restock.
AI editing tools in Photos
The Clean Up tool in Photos is getting an upgrade, as it can now remove distractions with more realistic in-fill, even with complex backgrounds. Apart from this, Apple is introducing two new AI photo-editing tools: Extend, which lets you expand your background, and Spatial Reframing, which allows you to alter a photo's perspective. The latter comes in handy when you wish you could've taken a photo at a different angle.
Other updates coming to iOS 27 include Android and Windows support for iCloud shared albums; a custom equalizer for the AirPods; suggestions for actions in Messages, Mail, Calendar, and Phone; and photorealistic generations via Image Playground.
