Free condoms will be given away in MRT stations.

Philippine National Aids Council announced that 10,000 condoms will be distributed beginning Thursday, May 28, in an effort to help lower HIV cases in the country.

Per PNAC executive director Joselito Feliciano, the arrangement has been made with MRT management regarding the designated location for the free condoms.

“These will be placed in a specific corner of restrooms at all MRT stations,” Feliciano said in an interview with The Philippine STAR.

“In the corner where they will find the condoms, basic information on its use and why it is important will also be posted. People will not just see the condom there, essential information will come with it,” he added.

The Department of Health logged more than 4,600 new HIV cases in the first quarter of 2026.

According to its latest data, there were 4,633 newly confirmed cases from January to March. This figure is 9% higher than the number of cases recorded in the same period last year.

Most of the newly confirmed cases involved men, with 4,381 infections recorded among males and 252 among females.
