YES to trustworthiness
A leader is someone who can speak with all honesty regardless of the situation. Someone who people can rely on in difficult times. Someone who can lead, motivate and influence us with integrity. We are looking for that “someone.”
2022 is the best time to be a leader in our country. And to say that our country and the Filipinos had gone through so much suffering these past few years is an understatement.
Trustworthy. In these crazy times, we need a leader who is trustworthy; someone who can demonstrate strength in the face of adversity. Trust isn’t something that just happens in a snap of a finger. We need someone who can gain the trust of the people, a leader who will work to sustain it.
We’ve witnessed and experienced natural calamities destroy our houses and break our hearts. We’ve seen the months-long armed conflict in Marawi and the airstrikes are still vivid in our minds, as vivid as the aftermath of the siege.
We have been battling a health war with an unseen enemy since last year because of the global pandemic. The virus continues to haunt us and tries very hard to destroy whatever is left in us. Many are starving. Some are buoyed by their own struggles—as if it is only through struggling that they will survive.
I am looking for a leader who is proactive and adaptive to whatever situations we might be facing. One who acts with urgency in leading the country, especially in this time of pandemic where we cannot afford dillydallying and delay.
The Philippine fashion industry is one of the many industries that has been greatly affected by the pandemic. Because of the threats of the unseen enemy, some of my clients’ weddings and events were cancelled. Others had the design of their wedding gowns changed into a simpler ensemble as gatherings were only limited to a certain number of guests.
In 2022, I am looking for a leader who is proactive and adaptive to whatever situations we might be facing. One who acts with urgency in leading the country, especially in this time of pandemic where we cannot afford dillydallying and delay.
I want a leader who is visible. Someone who takes the responsibility day and night, night and day. Sometimes people need not hear answers to the problems right away. Sometimes all they need is a leader who communicates and shows solidarity and empathy with them. Leading with ethics and values need not be explained. How can one expect the people being ruled to be civilized when the leaders themselves are wanting?
Most importantly, I want a leader who exemplifies honesty and concern toward the country and the people. Being a trustworthy leader is very important. A leader who can speak with all honesty regardless of the situation. Someone the people can rely on in difficult times. Someone who can lead, motivate and influence us with integrity. We are looking for that “someone.”
I can go on forever listing the qualities I want for our leaders in 2022. But I pray to God to give us a trustworthy leader. Not because of the sufferings we’ve been through and heartbreaks we’ve had. But because we deserve a trustworthy leader whether the times are good or bad. My hopes are high that we will find this leader because I believe in God and in our country.
