Indonesia's Kenangan Coffee is now in Manila
Kenangan Coffee (Kopi Kenangan), a much-loved coffee brand that started in Indonesia, has arrived in Manila to delight Pinoy coffee lovers with different versions of their favorite drink at an affordable price.
The beverage brand is known for its signature Kenangan Latte, which has creamy and smoky hints from beans sourced from Java, Sumatra, and different parts of Indonesia. It's also made with black aren (palm sugar) from the sap of Arenga pinnata palm that naturally gives off hints of caramel and molasses.
Aside from getting to enjoy its bestselling drink, customers can also expect to delight in a mix of crafted beverages like Avocado Coffee, Freezy Mocha Chip, Creamy Latte, and Salted Caramel Macchiato as well as pastries for a more enjoyable coffee experience.
Brought to Manila by Fredley Group of Companies, Kenangan Coffee is now open at L2, North Entertainment Mall of SM Mall of Asia. It’s also set to open branches in SM East Ortigas, SM Megamall, SM Bicutan, SM Baguio, and SM North EDSA.
Kenangan Coffee was established in Indonesia as a coffee stall in 2017. It was founded by Edward Tirtanata, who grew up in Jakarta and later moved to the United States to study finance and accounting. According to CNBC, he never enjoyed school though he has always had an interest in doing business. “I always [got] excited,” he said, referring to opportunities to make money. “It’s not about the money—it’s the pleasure of doing it. It’s something that really excites me until today.”
Tirtanata has always kept the business principle of buying low and selling high since he was younger. From learning to sell Pokemon cards and gaming bots, he got inspired by his entrepreneur parents to officially start his own business and grow it into what it is today—a coffee brand worth billions of dollars, with over 950 locations across the globe.
