Passengers had to act fast and evacuate an aircraft after a mobile phone’s battery burst into flames that quickly spread to one of its seats.

According to a report by PEOPLE Magazine, the incident took place in a Southwest Airlines plane just before it was about to take off.

Citing a spokesperson for the airline, the media outlet reported that Flight 3316 was at one of the gates of Denver International Airport when it happened on Nov. 15.

All 108 passengers were asked to leave the plane as soon as possible while crew members extinguished the fire.

“Passengers in the back of the aircraft used the rear emergency slides, while those in the front of the plane exited through the front door,” the spokesperson said.

In a statement, Southwest said that passengers were transferred to another aircraft so they can push through with their scheduled trips. “[We have] been in contact with the customers on the flight,” it continued.

An investigation on the matter is ongoing.
