The new Miss World Philippines has been crowned!

Out of 24 delegates, Asia Rose Simpson of Quezon shone the brightest in this year's competition, winning the coveted crown. During the final question-and-answer portion, she was asked to share her thoughts on whether social media has helped or hurt society.

She answered poise and anchored with her advocacy: "Mental health issues are on the rise. One in seven children worldwide experience mental health disorders, and the World Health Organization realized that relays that 80% of adolescents don't meet the recommended levels of activity. That's where SED initiative comes in—my sports and dance initiative that specifically advocates for the physical, mental and emotional health of today's youth. Social media has so many benefits, it helps us all promote different businesses and organizations that helps us succeed. However, I think it's also used as a crutch for our creativity, for our social skills. Just let's use social media responsibly. Thank you."

She was undeniably one of the frontrunners of the competition. She earned the Beauty with a Purpose award for her powerful mental health advocacy, the SED: Sports and Dance Initiative, a platform that addresses the global youth mental health crisis through sports ambassador programs and dance scholarships, which has made a difference in the lives of more than 7,000 students around the world.

She also won the Talent Challenge in the Fast Track competition and was named Dr. Toledo Cosmetic Ambassador.

As she steps into her reign as the MWPH queen, let’s take a moment to get to know her a little better.

Dance, service run in her veins

Asia was born into a family of dancers. As young as three years old, her dad taught her to dance.

In 2016, her father, Joseph, along with her siblings Genesis, Ramiah, and Josiah—dubbed the "Simpson Tribe"—auditioned for the fifth season of Pilipinas Got Talent. They performed a heartwarming dance piece that earned four “yes” votes from the judges.

Her talent for dancing went beyond mere passion. As she was exposed to humanitarian work through her family's nonprofit organization, she incorporated her passion for dance into her mental health advocacy through SED, a Sport and Dance initiative.

As she said in her advocacy video, the platform "strives to create a countercultural movement that will impact the physical, mental, and emotional lives of today's youth."

"For two and half decades my parents, now with us kids as well; our passion for humanitarian works still burns deep within," she previously wrote in her Instagram post.

"I have lived most of my life in the Philippines, and almost all of my life I have been a part of our family’s non profit humanitarian to serve, share, and shine!" she added, adding that these initiatives included conducting a Dance Community Outreach in her hometown in Roxas City, Capiz.

This initiative has impacted more than 7,000 students in the United States, Vietnam, and across the Philippines.

She is an author

Asia co-wrote and illustrated childrens' books, one of which, dubbed the Animal Sounds of Praise, won 2nd place at the National Fine Arts Competition in Florida.

She is a pageant girly through and through

Asia is no stranger to pageantry. She was crowned 2023 New Mexico Teen USA, where she was also named Miss Congeniality. At that time, UmaSofia Srivastava won the crown, but later gave up her title after Miss USA Noelia Voight resigned.

She later competed in the local pageant and won the Miss World Quezon City crown.
