Beatrice Luigi Gomez's Miss Universe gowns now on display in an exhibit

Fans will get the chance to see every gown worn by Beatrice Luigi Gomez during her 70th Miss Universe pageant stint, all thanks to Francis Libiran.

The Francis Libiran Universe Collection fashion exhibit in Sofitel Manila's Events Lounge will feature six gowns made by Libiran for Gomez, including the royal blue winning gown that she wore at the Miss Universe Philippines 2021 grand coronation night in Panglao, Bohol.

The man of the hour said that the gowns were inspired by Gomez herself and that he wanted to highlight the beauty queen's assets: her legs.

"Before I design something for clients, I would really sit down, talk to them, and get to know them. That’s very important for me. I want to know how they are as a person. And I would always ask this question: how do you see yourself on that stage in front of the whole universe?" Libiran said.

"When I was meeting with her, I studied her very carefully—her assets. Her biggest asset was her legs. That's the highlight. So I need to create a gown that, you know, would highlight that long legs," he said.

Gomez, on the other hand, had a hard time choosing her favorite piece from the Universe Collection. But if she were to pick her most favorite, it would be the shimmering gold gown that she wore to the finals night in Eilat, Israel.

"[That gown] really represented me as a person. I always believe that an empowered woman is like gold—she is capable of taking shape no matter what challenges that she goes through, just like me," she said.

The Francis Libiran Universe Collection fashion exhibit is open to the public for the whole month of April until May 2022.
