Friendship goals: Liza Soberano surprised Janella Salvador with a baby shower last year
After delightedly introducing her son, Jude, to the world earlier this month, Janella Salvador gave another shout-out to a special person in her life—“none other than Liza Soberano.”
Janella recently revealed that her good friend Liza surprised her with a baby shower before she flew to the United Kingdom to give birth last year.
Liza made the event more memorable by tapping event stylist Enah Quinto to turn their all-white venue into a pretty setup inspired by Breakfast at Tiffany’s, a 1960s film starring Janella’s favorite actress Audrey Hepburn.
Liza carried out her surprise on Aug. 26, 2020, “after a secret maternity pictorial I did,” Janella wrote in an Instagram post on Jan. 17. “My team told me I was gonna do an OOTD in another room, and BOOM.”
“I’m not very good at reactions when people surprise me in person, which explains my face in the video. But seeing these people who are dear to me all in one room warmed my heart and reminded me of the good in the world despite the situation,” the Kapamilya star recalled.
Janella went on to express her deep gratitude to her dear pal. “Thank you. You are a gem,” she said.
Aside from Liza, the baby shower was also attended by Janella’s partner Markus Paterson, her aunt and fellow actress Maja Salvador, Kapamilya actor Enrique Gil, mom Janine Desiderio, make-up artist Mickey See, associate stylist Kris Deleon, stylist Perry Tabora, and hairstylist John Valle.
In the same Instagram post, Janella shared clips of Liza’s heartwarming message to her godson Jude.
“Hey, Jude. This is your Ninang Liza, and I’m already claiming it even if we haven’t had the baptism yet. I’m so happy that you’re finally out to the world. I’m so happy to announce how proud we are of you and your mama and your papa. And I’m happy to be a part of this journey, especially for my good friend, your mommy.”
"I don't know, but I can understand how hard it must be to become a mother at a time like this, during a time of uncertainty, because of the virus and of course with that was happening with our company,” Liza continued.
"That's why I came up with a little surprise for your mom. I made her a baby shower because I wanted her first pregnancy with you to be a special one and one that she will never forget. And I just wanted to let her know that there's so many people who support and love her and we wanted you to know that, too, as well.
"This is me just saying how happy and proud I am to be in your life…” the actress said.
Reports that Janella was pregnant surfaced in September. She and Markus admitted that they are, indeed, parents to baby in a video titled “Hey, Jude” uploaded on the couple’s YouTube page.
