Ichiran releases instant cup noodles 20 years in the making

If you ask us (and all the Japan-loving people out there), a trip to Tokyo or Osaka wouldn’t be complete without dining at Ichiran ramen restaurant.

Locals would attest to its addictive full-flavored tonkatsu ramen, as they themselves form long queues outside its establishments every time.

Now, Ichiran is offering the same delectable dish sans the waiting time with the release of its first-ever instant cup noodles.

Ichiran said it took them 20 years to boil down 60 years of ramen-making into a precooked variant. Rigorous testing was conducted to ensure that the instant noodles deliver the perfect creamy spicy flavor with every sip.

The food chain wants diners to enjoy the instant noodles minus the frills that’s why each cup only contains non-fried Hakata-style noodles, one pack of pork broth powder, and another pack of Ichiran’s original secret red sauce.

Ichiran's tonkatsu cup ramen will be available for ¥490 (P225) in Japan’s convenience stores, supermarkets, as well as Ichiran stores and online starting Feb. 15.

In the meantime, here’s something to get us Pinoys drooling:
