Ice cream offerings in Manila that are so drool-worthy, you won’t believe they’re plant-based

Veganism has been on the rise in the Philippines for a while now, and it shows in the items being showcased in the food scene.

Even fast-food chains have introduced plant-based items in their menu. Burger King, for one, now has a vegan whopper in collaboration with v2food. Shakey’s has also launched “The GOOOD GOOOD Burger,” which is made with plant-based patty and vegan dressing.

It has been the same in the dessert arena, including its cold side. There are now ice cream offerings that are no longer a “guilty pleasure”—just pure indulgence from vegan ingredients. Here are some of them that could take you by surprise.

New flavor alert! The exciting sweetness of Cookie Butter is the star of Alt Scoops' latest variant. Made with oat milk that complements the cookie butter spread and crumbs, it's simply "the same Cookie Butter we all know and love, but in guilt-free, low-cal ice cream form." You can get it for P375 per pint.

Kurimu PH has just started offering 100% plant-based ice cream to its customers. The Guacamiso (P450/pint) is made with avocado, homemade cashew cream, and miso that, when combined, takes its decadence to a whole new level. There’s also the Nama Chocolate priced at P480 per pint. Made with oat milk and brewed coffee, it’s “a culmination of dark chocolate ganache in ice cream form.”

Calling all purple yam lovers! Ube Bliss (P350/pint), made with real ube halaya, is now part of Super Scoop Dairy-Free's mouthwatering range. The best part? If you order three pints from the ice cream brand, you can have them delivered to your home without a cost.

Looking to get your gelato fix? You might want to check out Auro Chocolate’s vegan variants. Available in strawberry and chocolate for P384 per pint, they’re here to “give you all the creaminess without the milk.”

This Thai Milk Tea ice cream puts the spotlight on the delectable goodness of Thai Chatraumue black tea leaves when they’re mixed with coconut milk. This Ambassador’s Ice Cream offering (P77 per cup) will only be available until supplies last, so you might want to grab it while you can.
