Unfortunately, many Pinoys haven’t had a chance to travel to Baguio again in the past two years because of the pandemic.

With Christmas season coming up, more people are eager to revisit Baguio once again for the chilly weather, great eats, and nostalgic vibe. And while there are many hotels based in the main city proper, sometimes you just want to stay somewhere unique for a special getaway.

But what sets Tudor in the Pines apart from the usual hotels in Baguio?

In an interview with PhilSTAR L!fe, the proprietor of the Airbnb property shared that Tudor in the Pines is actually an estate comprised of seven unique residences within a gated property, accommodating a maximum of 30 guests.

While the Twin Glass Treehouse is the most famous “room” here, there are other accommodations to choose from set among the lush green pine forest, including an English-inspired Tudor House, Royal Cottage, Garden Terrace, Forest Terrace, Pine Cone Treehouse and Pine Needle Treehouse.

“It was back in 2017, that the owner who grew up in Baguio City but living abroad for many years decided to search for a nice home to enjoy her retirement. It was her dream to live in a home surrounded with lush pine forests and sound of chirping birds. Yet a house not too far from the city center,” the Airbnb proprietor told PhilSTAR L!fe.

After searching for a place in Baguio, she finally found one that met her requirements. However, since the original house was rather big for a couple, an old architect friend suggested that they transform it into a vacation home and open it to guests instead.

The owner, an avid traveler who had many pleasant experiences using the homestay Airbnb platform, agreed with converting their property into a homestay. Along with her husband, who loves architecture, they decided on a theme and design inspired by their travels.

“The medieval Tudor House design was inspired by a tour of England by the owner some years ago. She found the design unique and typical of old English lodges surrounded with pine forest and a private garden of selected colourful and fragrant plants," the proprietor shared.

"The original old house was transformed into the Tudor Design with large glass panels for an all-round panoramic view of the garden and forest. Consisting of five uniquely designed homes, every unit has its own unique character,” they added.

  • Some noise might be heard (which is specified in their listing) due to the campfire located below the treehouses. This has a time restriction, so guests are advised to message the hosts if other guests use the campfire area beyond the time allowed.
  • Like most of Baguio’s roads in the outskirts of the city, the drive up to the house can be quite dark, but still manageable especially at night.
  • The Twin Glass Treehouse is ideal for young couples, but may not be the best option for seniors as getting here involves passing a hanging bridge and tight staircase.
