'Legally Blonde 3' is LEGIT happening in 2022!

Virtual reunions among stars are happening here and there, but this latest one is one for the books. Like, law books! The Legally Blonde cast just did a get-together online 20 years since production—with a bonus surprise for us: The movie will have a third sequel!

Reese Witherspoon, known as the happy-go-lucky girl turned Harvard standout Elle Woods, led the reunion. She and cast did so in support of World Central Kitchen, a non-profit organisation devoted to providing meals in the wake of natural disasters and the coronavirus pandemic.

As each of the cast members joined the call, Witherspoon, now 44, couldn't help but shed a tear.

"I already cried over Luke (Wilson), I'm going to cry over you, too," she said to Jennifer Coolidge, who played Elle's friend Paulette Bonafonté in the first two films.

Also present at the virtual reunion were Matthew Davis (Warner Huntington III), Ali Larter (Brooke Taylor Windham), Holland Taylor (Professor Stromwell), Selma Blair (Vivian Kensington), Jessica Cauffiel (Margot), and Alanna Ubach (Serena McGuire). Saturday Night Live's Chloe Fineman joined as the host.

Starting the chat, Fineman asked Witherspoon if she knew Legally Blonde was going to be a hit right away.

A modest Witherspoon replied, "No, not at all! I don't think any of us knew what this film was gonna turn out to be or how much it would inspire young women and young people across the world."

She added, "I've traveled the entire world, and I've always, always, the movie that people stop me about is Legally Blonde. And the thing that actually that touches my heart is more people stop me and say, 'I went to law school because of Elle Woods.'"

The rest of the talk was filled with everyone reminiscing about their filming experiences—from how Cauffiel and Ubach became real-life best friends, to the iconic "Bend and Snap" scene, to sharing what the movie means to each one of them.

Witherspoon wrapped up the chat by thanking everyone and saying, "I can't tell you what it means to me to see your faces. This was my college. This is where I went to college. I didn't finish college but I finished Legally Blonde."

"We all worked together and made this movie together that has inspired so many young people. It's just such a gift. Every time people come up to me and tell me they love this movie, I give it all to you, I share it all with you all."

A day after the reunion, MGM announced on Twitter that Legally Blonde 3 will officially be hitting cinemas in May 2022. It will see Witherspoon returning as Elle Woods.

Ready to do the bend and snap again?
