Celebrate music and OPM at the virtual Fête de la Musique on June 18 to 21

By PINKY S. ICAMEN Published Jun 16, 2021 9:08 pm

Fête de la Musique is back in the Philippines this weekend and expect a bigger lineup of artists and virtual performances that span four days, starting June 18, Friday, until June 21, Monday.

Pre-pandemic, Fête de la Musique took over the streets with live bands, singers, musicians and DJs performing in different pocket venues across its host city. Fête, which started in France 38 years ago, is celebrated every June 21 by millions of people around the world in over 1,000 cities and 120 countries.

In the Philippines, community quarantines are still in place so this year’s Fête de la Musique will be fully virtual, just like its staging last year.

Co-staged by the Department of Tourism, the virtual event dubbed #FeteFromMyIsland will be set across different cities and provinces in Luzon, Visayas and Mindanao. The event will not only feature OPM legends and local music artists, but also French artists and other foreign acts.

In line with the celebration of music, this year’s Fête will also showcase a visual feast as the event will take its audience to a banner tourist destinations in the country like Boracay, El Nido, La Union, and Metro Manila.
