‘Suicide Squad: Kill The Justice League’ gets gameplay trailer

Warner Bros. and Rocksteady Studios launched the latest trailer for the Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League at The Game Awards 2021 on Thursday.

The trailer featured a lengthy gameplay preview and a confirmed release date of sometime in 2022.

Suicide Squad is coming to PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X/S. There was no mention of the game coming to past-gen consoles, including the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One.

The game comes from Rocksteady Sudios, the video game developer behind the critically-acclaimed Batman Arkham series. Rocksteady is a subsidiary of Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment.

While the game studio has previously shown glimpses of gameplay through past story trailers and social media posts, it’s the first time that fans are getting an in-depth look at the gameplay set  in the universe previously established by the Batman: Arkham series.

Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League revolves around the Suicide Squad’s attempts to defeat Braniac when he invades Earth and brainwashes the Justice League.

In the trailer, Suicide Squad members Harley Quinn, King Shark, Captain Boomerang, and Deadshot all show off their respective powers and abilities in what looks like an epic city-wide battle. Each member showcased their own unique fighting style based on their strengths and unleashed a slew of cool weapons including Harley's signature basebal bat, blasters, and weaponized boomerangs.

The team faces off against a corrupted version of the Flash and other demonic creatures running amok in the city. Though they weren’t featured in the latest gameplay trailer, other members of the Justice League will likely appear in the game, too, based on the title and premise.

While the game can be played solo, it also features a four-player cooperative multiplayer mode. In solo mode, players can switch between characters at will, while others are controlled by the AI.

Suicide Squad is only one of several comic book hero video games announced in recent years. Other superhero titles include DC’s Wonder-Woman, Marvel’s Guardians of the Galaxy and Marvel’s Avengers.

Rocksteady Games first announced the “hardcore violent” video game based on the Suicide Squad at the DC FanDome 2020.
