Watch ‘Dune,’ ‘A Quiet Place II,’ ‘Black Widow’ and more at Phl cinemas this November
Missed watching movies on the big screen? Philippine cinemas will finally reopen on Nov. 10 for the first time since the start of the pandemic.
After nearly 20 months, moviegoers can finally catch some of the biggest blockbusters in local theaters, subject to the following IATF-mandated health and safety guidelines.
- Only fully vaccinated individuals are permitted (with presented authentic vaccination cards)
- 30 percent capacity is allowed
- No eating inside the cinema
- Ticket-purchasing will be contactless
- Seating must be socially-distanced
While most of the films have already been released internationally or on streaming sites earlier this year, this November marks their big screen debut in the country.
Sci-fi epic Dune from Warner Bros. Pictures and Legendary Pictures will be kicking off the Pinoy moviegoers return to theaters starting Nov. 10.
"Our new movie Dune will blow your minds," said Timothee Chalamet, who plays hero Paul Atreides in the film. "Nothing beats the cinema experience."
Jason Momoa, who plays Duncan Idaho, added that the film should be watched on the big screen, "because it's epic, because it needs to be seen this way, it's how it was intended. I promise you won't be let down."
For those with a Halloween hangover, the sequel to thriller A Quiet Place starring Emily Blunt will be premiering exclusively in select cinemas on Nov. 10 as well. According to Paramount Pictues, A Quiet Place II is "bigger, faster, louder" and "demands to be seen on the big screen."
The Cinema Exhibitors Association of the Philippines or CEAP has also confirmed that No Time To Die will be shown in local cinemas starting Nov. 17.
Marvel Cinematic Universe superhero flick Black Widow also drops on Nov. 17, while Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings will follow the week after on Nov. 24.
Many cinemas around the the National Capital Region (NCR) are finalizing their arrangements for the gradual reopening. Aside from Metro Manila, cinemas will also be reopening in Tarlac, Laguna, Rizal, Bohol and Iloilo.

Dune - Nov. 10
The epic science fiction film Dune directed by Denis Villeneuve and starring Timothee Chalamet was the first film announced to be hitting cinemas. Dune was simultaneously released theatrically abroad and streaming on HBO Max (but not on its Asian counterpart HBO Go) on Oct. 22, 2021. The film based on Frank Herbert's novel has crossed the $300 million mark (over P15 billion) at the box office internationally and has been given the green light for a sequel.
A Quiet Place Part II - Nov. 10
Halloween may be over, but the sequel to 2018's A Quiet Place by John Krasinski expects to deliver thrills when it hits screens in Philippine theaters. The film had its world premiere in March 2020, but did not get a worldwide release until May 2021 because of the pandemic. The sequel follows the remaining members of the Abbott family played by Emily Blunt, Millicent Simmonds and Noah Jupe as they continue navigating a silent world overrun by aliens. They are joined by Cillian Murphy and Djimon Hounsou.
Black Widow - Nov. 17
The long-awaited Marvel film Black Widow starring Scarlett Johansson's as Natasha Romanoff will finally appear in Philippine theaters this Nov. 17. The film takes place following the events of Captain America: Civil War. Officially the first film of the Marvel Cinematic Universe's Phase 4, the movie premiered in other countries last July 9 and on the Disney Plus streaming service, which is still not legally available in the country.
Don’t Breathe 2 - Nov. 17
The sequel to 2016’s horror thriller Don’t Breathe stars Stephen Lang, reprising his role as Norman Nordstrom / "The Blind Man", with Brendan Sexton III and and Madelyn Grace in supporting roles. Don't Breathe 2 was theatrically released in the United States on Friday, Aug. 13, by Sony Pictures Releasing.
No Time to Die - Nov. 17
No Time to Die, Daniel Craig's fifth and final outing as James Bond, sees Bond drawn out of retirement in Jamaica by his old friend, CIA agent Felix Leiter. The latest in the Bond franchise, considered one of the movie world's most lucrative series, recently debuted to $56 million at the US domestic box office. No Time to Die, which cost an estimated $200 million to produce, was originally scheduled to premiere in April 2020 but was moved several times due to the COVID-19 pandemic. It will open in local cinemas on Nov. 17.
Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings - Nov. 24
Aside from Black Widow, another major MCU film arriving to Philippine cinemas this month is Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings, Marvel's first movie by an Asian director, which stars a predominantly Asian cast led by Simu Liu, Awkwafina and Tony Leung. The superhero film was released in September 2021 internationally, and has become one of the biggest box office hits of the pandemic, ranking as the highest grossing movie in the US so far this year. Unlike other movies Disney released earlier during in the pandemic, Shang-Chi was not made available to stream on Disney Plus.
Malignant - Nov. 24
Warner Bros. Philippines announced that the horror movie Malignant will be showing in the Philippines two months after its worldwide release. Malignant is James Wan's return to directing a horror movie, after doing Aquaman. The director is best known for his work in the Saw films, the first two Insidious movies and The Conjuring films.
Aside from Don’t Breathe 2, Columbia Pictures Philippines announced its release dates for films coming in December and 2022.
Unfortunately, Spider-Man: No Way Home, which is debuting internationally on Dec. 17, 2021, won’t be coming to Philippine cinemas until Jan. 8, 2022.

The CEAP has also teased the theatrical release of Marvel's Eternals, The Matrix Resurrections, Disney's Encanto, and the Metro Manila Film Festival, with no clear release dates yet.
