From main dancer to main event: BTS’ J-Hope makes history as one of Lollapalooza 2022’s headline acts

BTS’ J-Hope is announced as one of the headline acts of Lollapalooza 2022, organizers announced on Wednesday, June 8. The BTS member is the first South Korean artist to perform at a major American music festival.

“We're thrilled to announce #jhope of @bts_bighit will headline #Lolla 2022 on Sun, July 31st! His performance will make history, cementing him as the first South Korean artist to headline a main stage at a major U.S. music festival,” Lollapalooza wrote on Twitter.

J-Hope is set to join fellow Lollapalooza headline acts Dua Lipa, Metallica, J. Cole, Green Day, Machine Gun Kelly, Lil Baby, and Kygo on July 31.

The BTS member took to Instagram to share his excitement about his upcoming music festival gig.

“This is going to be my first performance at @lollapalooza. It's a thrilling new challenge that I think will become a really memorable chapter in my musical history! I'm gonna give you guys a great show. Get ready to get crazyyyyyy,” J-Hope wrote.

Meanwhile, Big Hig Music labelmates TOMORROW X TOGETHER (TXT) have been confirmed to make their Lollapalooza debut on July 30. The five-member group is composed of members Yeonjun, Soobin, Beomgyu, Taehyun, and Huening Kai.

J-Hope debuted as the main dancer, sub rapper, and sub vocalist of BTS in June 2013. He released his first mixtape Hope World in March 2018, with Daydream as the title track. Some of his popular solo releases include Chicken Noodle Soup and Airplane, among others.
